The Dalai Lama’s 2011 World Teaching Schedule

His Holiness the Dalai Lama gives teachings throughout the year at various times and in different places throughout the world. His Holiness also gives public talks. In India, teachings and public talks are usually free and open to the public. However, to attend teachings and public talks outside of India one usually is required to purchase a ticket. The proceeds from the ticket sales are used to cover the costs of the venue and other expenses related to His Holiness’s visit.

SCHEDULE 2011

Public Talk in Bangalore, Karnataka, India on January 30: His Holiness will give a public talk on Finding Happiness in Troubled Times organized by the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition (FPMT) and Choe Khor Sum Ling at the National College Grounds, Basanavagudi in the afternoon. Inauguration of Rato Monastery in Mundgod, Karnataka, India on January 31: His Holiness will inaugurate Rato Monastery in the morning.

Teaching in Mundgod, Karnataka, India from February 1 to 5: His Holiness will give teachings on Commentary on the Fundamental Wisdom of the Middle Way (tsashay ketrid sindrid) & Tara Blessing Empowerment (dolma jenang) on February 1 and 2 at Drepung Lachi Monastery. This will be followed by conferment of Yamataka Initiation (jigje wang) on February 5 at Gaden Shartse Monastery, On February 6 morning His Holiness will confer a Buddha Maitreya Blessing Empowerment (jampa gonpo jenang) followed by a long life offering ceremony at Gaden Shartse Monastery.

Public Talk in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India on February 12: His Holiness will give a public talk (topic and venue yet to be decided) in the afternoon.

Teaching in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India on February 19: His Holiness will give a teaching on Introduction to Buddhism at St. Xavier’s Football Ground, Parel, Mumbai in the afternoon at the request of the Bihar Foundation Mumbai.

Teachings in Dharamsala, H.P., India on March 14 & 15: His Holiness will give two-day teachings at the request of a group of Thais.

Teachings in Dharamsala, H.P., India on March 19: His Holiness will give a short teaching from the Jataka Tales in the morning.

Spring Teachings in Dharamsala, H.P., India: His Holiness will not be giving any spring teachings this year.

Teaching in Copenhagen, Denmark on April 18: His Holiness will give teachings on Seven Point Mind Training (lojong donduna) at the Tivoli Congress Center in the morning. Contact Website: www.dalailama.dk

Kalachakra for World Peace in Washington, DC, USA from July 6 to 16: During the first three days of the Kalachakra, from July 6 through 8, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, along with the monks of Namgyal Monastery and senior lamas, will conduct rituals which prepare and consecrate the venue. These include chanting of prayers, creation of the sand mandala and other ancient rituals. From July 9 to 11, His Holiness will give preliminary teachings (topic yet to be decided) for Kalachakra. On July 12, The Kalachakra Ritual Dance will be performed by the monks of Namgyal Monastery. His Holiness will give the Kalachakra empowerment from July 13 to 15. On July 16, a ceremony offering prayers for the long life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama will be performed.
