Our 5th and final walk starts from a lovely estate with beautiful gardens at Wolfsburn on the back side of the upper chakkar (belonging to a friend of a classmate’s) to Childer’s Estate where we see the snow peaks of the Indian Himalayas once again! Along our walk, we pass by the house belonging to Victor Banerjee, a good friend of Mussoorie’s well known resident author, Ruskin Bond. We then pass Kellogg Church and Sisters Bazaar until we reach Rosebank. From here we start our descent down to the Mt Hermon and Oakville properties until we find one of the original goat paths down to the main trail that takes us to the back of the shops at Jaber Khet. Here we rest while drinking hot and delicious masala chai, remembering stories of falling into stinging needle, fireflies and the old Haunted House from our younger days.
This is the final walk out of five that we managed to complete during our 5 day visit (20-24th October 2011) to Mussoorie coinciding with the 100th anniversary of WOSA at Woodstock School. I hope they will inspire you to visit when you have the chance.
